OSUN 2022: PDP SHUNS SEYI MAKINDE, PICKS DIRI AS CAMPAIGN DG FOR OSUN GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION

The Senator Iyiochia Ayu-led National Working Committee (NWC), of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri, as chairman of the council for the Osun State Gubernatorial election scheduled for Saturday, July 16, 2022.

 

While Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, who is the leader of the PDP in the South-west was named as a member of the 128 campaign council members.

 

This was contained in a letter in a letter signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, in Abuja, on Monday, June 27, 2022.

 

According to him, the council will be inaugurated, at the party’s National Secretariat, Abuja, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

 

Other serving goveronors that made the list as members include: Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Darius Ishaku (Taraba), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Nyesom Wike (Rivers).

 

Other members include Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Emeka Ihedioha, Chief Shuaibu Oyedokun, Charles Akintoye, Senator Biodun Olujimi.

 

Also on the list are: Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, Eyitayo Jegede, Solomon Arase, among others.

 

The statement also listed PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, and all members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) as members.

 

The PDP Osun campaign council list is coming days after the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) announced an 86-member campaign council for the same purpose as well.

 

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was named as the chairman of the council while Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano State is to serve as co-chairman.

 

All governors of the ruling party state alongside the Senate President Ahmad Lawan and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila are to serve as deputies to Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
